Common Applications
- AC-to-DC Power Supplies: wave and full-wave bridge rectifier networks are used in both linear power supplies and switch-mode power supplies (SMPS) to convert alternating current into direct current.
- Reverse Polarity Protection: This helps prevent damage to circuits when a battery or DC input is connected the wrong way around. It protects the circuit from harm caused by reversed connections.
- Flyback / Snubber Diodes: These diodes are used to stop voltage spikes that happen when inductive devices like relay coils, solenoids and DC motors are turned off. They protect the circuit from voltage surges.
- Voltage Clamping & Isolation: Diodes help control flow and separate different parts of a circuit. They are often used in battery chargers, power adapters and home automation control boards to clamp voltage and provide isolation, between stages.
